About EQTRun
Background
I have years of experience as a research analyst in global macro hedge funds and family offices. I am a long-time Bloomberg Terminal user. I have been coding tools in R for my research — equity analysis, macro frameworks, forecasts, economics.
Bloomberg is a really comprehensive platform, but I'm still missing some functions that I end up building myself. I decided to make one of these tools public.
If you want a custom equity signal report delivered to your email — the same kind I use for my daily work — EQTRun is the tool for you.
Why I Built EQTRun
It's a useful tool for idea generation on both the long and short side. Start from top-down EQTR index performance and check their components which contribute to the move of the index. Or see which companies are breaking their long-term trends. Then go and study them. Sometimes you can find appealing turnaround stories or companies that are starting to face fundamental problems. Often stocks can break trends even before any catalyst comes out.
The tool helps monitoring your list of securities and getting notified when something starts moving. If you read an article or hear something about a company, put it in the signals list and never forget about it again. When it starts moving, it will be flagged to you and delivered to your inbox.
Set up a screen with momentum indicators to understand what others see, how your stock or a general index is positioned. Or simply check the overbought/oversold conditions of the stock you are interested in.
It's not an intraday trading signals platform. It's not a backtesting algo-trader. This tool best suits fundamental investors, those who would like to know more about their stocks and portfolios. And get notified in a more or less timely manner.
Where EQTRun Is Going
Future plans, but not everything is guaranteed:
- I might from time to time add more technical signals that I believe could be helpful in the screening process.
- I might add fundamental screening criteria to the universe.
- I'd be happy to expand the tickers universe as well.
- The current project is based on Yahoo Finance data, which needs frequent audits and recomputes. My plan is to move to alternative data sources.
- I expect the project to become commercial at some point. I don't want any ads here and would prefer a monthly subscription model. Some form of a free tier will remain in place.
